History Social Science K-6 Adoption
In August, CUSD began the process to adopt a new History Social Science curriculum for students in grades K-6. A committee of teachers representing all seven elementary schools was formed to receive training on the History Social Science framework and make informed decisions on which published materials to pilot for use in CUSD classrooms. Piloted materials from Studies Weekly are being used in select classrooms from September-December 2022. Piloted materials from TCI are being used in select classrooms from January-March 2023. Community forums are being held to provide opportunities for parents, guardians, and other educational partners to provide input on the advantages and challenges of each curriculum. The committee of teachers plans to make a decision regarding which curriculum to adopt by May 2023. Full implementation will likely begin in the 2023-2024 school year.
